hello

A couple of days ago I got an email I (seemingly) got an email from AVG saying "DONT PANIC" weve go this wanacry thing covered.
It want on to say that newer systems will be getting patched by ms and older ones can use "this" link to get patches.
My pc is eight so I clicked the patch and my pc froze for a second. 
Can AVG tell me (I hope) if their email was genuine, in which case I can breath easy?

I can still access my files though so it probably is ok, I just need reassurance please

Do not worry, that is a genuine email, it only contains the information about how the ransomeware is covered by AVG and the AVG updates. Do not worry, your computer is fully protected. Thank you
