Thank you for the detailed information, Mike.
I apologize for the inconvenience caused.
I request you to reinstall only the "Online Shield" component of the AVG Antivirus free.
Please open the AVG Antivirus free dashboard and click on "Menu–>Settings–>Components"
To the right you can find online shield and to the right of  "Customize" please click on the downward arrow mark where you can find the "Uninstall component" option.
Please click on it and restart the PC. Please get into the same window to install the component.
Restart the PC once after installation and check whether the issue persists in accessing websites.

Hello Mike,

I am sorry to hear that. Please let me know if you are using the free or paid version of AVG. And try to access this web pages from a different web browser and check if everything works fine. If the issue persists in all browsers, please let us know and I will assist you further.

Thanks for your reply. I have been using the free version for several months and it seem to have started about a week ago out of no wear. It was affecting all browsers, I couldn’t even access AVG’s web site! I tried all kind of fixes for a week strait!!! I even did a system restore to before it started. The only thing that worked was to turn off AVG! I think I have figured it out tonight. I had to find the Online Shield & uncheck “Do not scan trusted sites”, that helped but didn’t work for all the sites I visit regularly. I then unchecked “Enable HTTPS scanning”, that seems to have fixed the issue. I’m very disappointed for all HOURS I wasted and the extreme FRUSTRATION!

Hi Mike,
I certainly understand your concern. Please be informed that you do not need to disable whole Online shield. Please disable HTTPS scan setting alone and check if that resolves the issue.
Open AVG Antivirus Free and click on Menu->Settings-> Components->Online shield->Customize->Main settings-> uncheck HTTPS scan.

I would also like to inform you that AVG Resident shield will actively protect from any malicious content that is downloading from your webpages or emails.

Hello Mike,

Thank you for confirming the issue gets resolved by disabling the https scan. This solution will be helpful to most of our customers. I appreciate your time and co-operation. Feel free to contact us for further queries regarding AVG.

AVG is causing some web pages to load very slowly and not finish loading. If I turn off AVG they load fine. Any ideas?

Hi
I see everyone seems to have it figured out for now. Thank you Avinash for the update & everyone here for input & help.

Thanks for your reply.

The first thing I did when I figured out it AVG was causing the problem was to uninstall AVG and reinstall without the Online Shield. It worked, but why should I use an antivirus program that isn’t watching the internet usage & checking email? I was using the free version – I guess you get what you pay for – Just Kidding. I reactivated the Online Shield & started looking for what might be causing the problem.

Here are my concerns.

Why did this suddenly start after months of no problems? There may have been an AVG update that started it. I realize every system is a little different, but I do keep everything up to date and clean out the old clutter regularly.

This was even effectively blocking your own AVG web site. AVG antivirus blocking access to their own web site??? May be it is just me??? I finally figured it out from searching Google & read something about AVG blocking web sites in one of the abbreviated discerptions, but, of course the AVG antivirus wouldn’t let me access the page to see what it actually said!!!

Everything seems to be working now. If I have more problems I post again & may have to turn off the Online Shield completely. Again, why should I use an antivirus program that isn’t watching the internet usage & checking email?

Thanks for your advice.

Sorry not an answer, I have the exact same problem that just started recentlty. I have had AVG since dirt so obviously there was an update the caused the issue. I unchecked HTTPS and now it works, but hope my web surfing is secure.
