Web Shield Alert

Hello Rainer,

Let's work together to fix it.

Please share the screenshot of that detection message with full path. Click on "See Details" at the bottom right corner to view its full path.

Hi Rainer.
We'd like to appreciate your patience in this matter. Please make sure that there are no add ons or extensions installed on your browser. Though Hola app is uninstalled, there might be an extension installed which was bundled with the app. If possible, reset the browser to default settings and verify the issue.

Okay, Rainer.

Please uninstall https://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=How-to-uninstall-AVG-AntiVirus-for-Mac and reinstall https://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=How-to-download-and-install-AVG-AntiVirus-for-Mac your AVG Antivirus and check if that helps.

If the issue persists, we will forward this case to our senior team for further assistance.

Hello! I'm getting crazy. I recieve Web Shield alerts all the time, sometimes it is so wird; i click the alert away and the next is appears right away. I'm unable to work online any more… I'm using MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2017) Sierra 10.12.6. Can you please help me?

Thank you for providing us the information, Rainer.

From the pop up, it seems that there is a file attempting to get downloaded on your Mac.
Would you be so kind to ensure that there is no pending downloads on your browsers, other apps used to download?

Hello, Thanks for the answer. So I checked the status of my AVG Software, it says its up to date (vesrsion 18.7.) The pop ups occur also when no web browser is open (normally I use Safari, but yes, the alerts come without open brwoser).

Thank you for the information. The threat says about "Hola app" which should be the VPN application.
Are you using the Hola VPN extension on your browser?
Do you have any VPN app installed in Mac?

Thank you for the screenshot, Rainer.
Please make sure that you are having the latest version of AVG AntiVirus installed on your Mac device.
Does this pop-up occur randomly or when you surf the internet in a web browser? If it occurs in a web browser, please do try in an alternative browsers and monitor the status.

Sorry to hear that the issue persists, Rainer.

We have escalated this case to our senior team. We will get back to you once we received a response from them.
Your patience is much appreciated.

I deinstalled the Hola app, and it's intersting because it was running and I didn't open it for years. I cleared the history of Safari then, closed it. But the alerts still come in… ;-((

I'm not able to find a download activity somewhere. I also rebooted the system, and without opening any browser Web Shiedl comes up with another alert.

Soory to say that it didn't help, unistalled and installed AVG AntiVirus again and the opp up alerts are still here…
