Hello Patrick,
Thank you for waiting.
This is indeed a secured threat. The attached image indicates the detection was instigated by Web Shield. Either something from within the web content on the page is infected (i.e. within web email, banner image, etc.) The program is working proper.
You can try uninstall and reinstall Safari browser to check if that helps.
Hi Patrick,
I'm sorry for the delayed response. I'm writing to you regarding the threat detection by AVG.
I would like to check if you did a full scan by AVG and did the result had the same detection message?
I would also request to disable Safari browser extension and check if you get the threat detection.
Hello Patrick,
We would like to check why this is happening.
Could you provide the screenshot of AVG threat detection window here?
You can post the screenshot here in your topic. Click on 'Answer' & then click on the 'Image' [mountain symbol] & follow the instructions.
For the past few days, every now and then when I click on the address/google search box, I get a notification from web shield that a threat has been blocked by Web Shield. However the threat seems to continually come from the exact same URL and I can't seem to stop it. I've done a deep scan of my mac and found zero indications of malware but this threat keeps popping up. Also the URL that the malware is supposedly coming from is one I'm not familiar with.
Could you check whether this appears when you open any other browser of your Mac?
Only on the safari browser but it could pop up with any website.
Hi Patrick,
Thank you for your efforts.
We need to submit your concern with our senior team along with some information. If you could provide us with the below information, it would be easy for further analysis:
- Mac version
- version of AVG AntiVirus free
- Safari version
Looking forward to resolve the issue.
Thank you for confirming, Patrick.
Please make sure that you're having the latest version of Safari browser and AVG AntiVirus Free installed on your Mac.
Reset your web browser settings in Safari and monitor the status.
AVG - 18.7
Safari - 12.0.3
