Hello Bob,
We are sorry to know that. We will check and help you to resolve it. Please try to Adjust sensitivity in AVG Internet Security settings and check the status. Refer the below steps to know how to adjust sensitivity :
- Open the AVG Internet Security user interface and click the Privacy tile.
- Click Settings (the gear icon) in the top-right corner.
- Ensure Full Protection ▸ Webcam Protection is selected in the left panel, then use the drop-down menu to define Webcam Protection sensitivity.
- Smart mode: Automatically allows trusted applications to access your webcam. If an untrusted application attempts to access your webcam, a notification appears asking you to allow or block the application. After selecting an option, the application appears on the Blocked & Allowed apps settings screen, where you can view its status and select additional actions.
- Strict mode: Notifies you every time any application attempts to access your webcam and allows you to decide if the application is blocked or allowed. After selecting to block or allow an application, the application appears on the Blocked & Allowed apps settings screen, where you can view its status and select additional actions.
- No mercy mode: Automatically blocks all applications that attempt to access your webcam.

In internet security, when webcam protection is switched on it blocks my camera from working. I have tried everything, repair, permissions, uninstall/reinstall nothing puts it right, any ideas anyone
In response to your question David, AVG advised me to turn off webcam protection, I uninstalled the July antivirus update, that resolved the problem until a restart then the update came back and blocked the camera again. I have informed avg support so far no response.

I had already tried that, the camera only comes on when webcam protection disabled.
