Hello Brian,
We understand your concern. You can Schedule external drives to scan from AVG by following the below steps:
* Please open AVG Internet Security and select settings option near to scan computer
* You can see a new page from the list of options, from there select "Scheduled scan"
* A new window with list of options will be displayed
* Please select "Scheduling" and from there you can schedule the scan for external drives.

I have AVG Antivirus Free Version 17.3.3011, and wish to set up a regularly scheduled scan of a backup external hard disk (drive H), but cannot find how to do this via the Scan Options screen…
 
The predefined scan parameters seem only to allow for all hard disks (which I take to include the C drive that is scanned on the preceding day or all removable media).     I tried running the all removable media option but the run finished in a few seconds – so quickly it could not have scanned the backup drive.
 
So how do I set up a regularly scheduled H drive scan please?
