Hello Frederick,
You're right, we do not have Pause option. Scanning is an intense task which consume a lot of system memory, putting scan in Pause will also have the same effect thereby slowing down the computer to certain extent, which is why we have remove it from our latest version of AVG Internet Security/AVG Antivirus Free.
Regards,
Alok.

All of a sudden I cannot pause a current scanning process. I can only terminate it. Why was this function taken away from us?

Actually, this is NOT my experience at all! Pausing the scan immediately speeds up computer functions. And the other thing AVG took away was our ability to set the processing priority for scans. Using that function also helped speed up the computer. As it now stands, computers are slowed down during scans and we have NO way to lessen it. And if we stop the scan, you have forced us to start the entire process all over again and lengthen the time of computer slowdown. Please tell us how this is logical.
