What is the difference between a deep scan and a file scan of "This PC"?

Hi Aslan,

This isn't the experience we want you to have. We'd like to clarify this for you.
Deep scan is a thorough scan which scans all your drives for malware including rootkit.
A rootkit is a collection of computer software, typically malicious, designed to enable access to a computer or an area of its software that is not otherwise allowed and often masks its existence or the existence of other software.
Whereas, file scan is a scan which scans a specific file/folder for viruses chosen by the user.

I need to know, What is the difference between a deep scan and a file scan of "This PC"?

I found the support document here, | AVG , but that doesn't properly answer the question, plus that document comes across as scummy money grubbing, a bad look for a security product. AND now your support site just went down. Well, since I can't reference your specific language, you AVG said some feature may be unavailable to non paid users. That's a very scummy statement especially when you fail to disclose which features are only available with payment. It comes across as, we're not making enough money, let's kill some more capabilities in the free version so more people pay up.

What specifically does each of those do? Is one a superset of the other?
