Hello James,
We are sorry for the inconvenience caused.
Please be informed that Shredder option is available on both PC TuneUp and AVG Security program.
The option will be available in the all functions component of AVG PC TuneUp but the Shredder option will not be available if you search in the settings of the AVG Antivirus program.
To make it simple, if you have only AVG Antivirus program installed and if you right click on any file you wil have the option as "Shred with AVG file shredder" which is the AVG antivirus Shredder feature.
If you have both AVG Security and PC TuneUp program installed then on the right click on you will have the "AVG Shredder" option which is the shredder of PC TuneUp.
We are sorry to know that one of the "ThumbCacheToDelete" wasn't removed by AVG Shredder.
This file should be the windows file and that is the reason it would have not removed it.

I had 5 files slated for shredding. These were 4 doc files and 2 jpg pics.
- I clicked to open AVG, and Zen opened. Shred is not visible as a icon, so looked in Options - not there either.
- In Zen, I clicked Internet security, maybe it's there? No. It's not. Maybe under PC Tuneup - not there either, but now I can't close that PC Tune-up window because AVG insists on going through all 4-2Tb drives! So I X'd it off!
- Back to the second Zen window of 3, I clicked Internet Security again, and chose to Open Options. Not there, or under any of the sub-menus.
- It's not easily accessible either is it?
When does AVG get around to actually removing files? Do I need buy that add-on too?
First, I have AVG Ultimate, which I discovered is just AVG Internet Security with all the easy access shoved in to the back 10 clicks from where it use to be. That said, I am not an idiot. AVG, before the August downgrade, use to shred those files and they would be gone. After the downgrade, AVG only copies it to a tmp file and files it in a separate folder - and you tell me that AVG no longer shreds "windows" files?
I repeat - - - AVG CREATED the cache file, NOT Windoze! Why would AVG lie and state the files were shredded when you clearly point out, and as I discovered, the files are simply renamed, to a tmp file and left there?
I thoiught I bought AVG Ultimate - the Rolls Royce of anti-virus, but I seem yto have ended up wiuth a lame horse and buggy with a lot of broken spokes, and no coverage.
