When my trial version of Internet security expires, will I be offer the free version without a gap?

I have been using AVG's free version of Internet Security. Earlier this week, I had a virus that disabled that service. I then installed the trial version, which also allowed a one-time tune-up. As far as I can tell, the virus is gone. When my trial expires in 21 days, I cannot afford to buy a paid subscription. I'm 73 years old and living on Social Security–lost my pension money that was tied up in a house I had to walk away from in the housing crash–plus grocery money from my son. 

I fear that when my trial expires my computer will be attacked before I can re-install the free version of Internet Security. Will I be offered that option before I'm left without protection?
