Hii. I'm rather confused about when to use a particular removal tool.
I have on my laptop AVG Protection, I mean, in other words, I used the file: AVG_Protection__698.exe to install the antivirus program.
I also have AVG TuneUp installed and for this I ran AVG_PCTuneUp_765.exe.
I believe I also have another program installed, called AVG Zen, but I if so, I'm not sure how that was installed.
I think one time I've run AVG_Protection_Free_1155, but that antivirus program will not be on my system now.
Okay, of late 3 removal tools have been applied on my laptop, as follows:
* AVG_Remover
* avg_remover_stf_x86_2015_5501
* avgfmwremoverx
Okay, can anyone please explain when to use these removal tools.
Also, what tool(s) would I use on my system as currently configured re AVG products.
Thank you.
Richard, I think AVG_Remover is probably the PC TuneUp removal tool. Have a look @ this article (http://avgclick.me/uninstallAVGPCTuneUp).

Yes, running AVG-Remover first establishes what AVG applications you have installed, whatever they are. So, I can uninstall PC TuneUp with that program.
I supect that at this time, normally, whatever AVG products one has installed, AVG-Remover would be the remover to use.
Still does not explain the other two removal tools though.

Yes, Richard you have understood correctly. If the AVG programs are perfectly installed then our latest remover tool will be useful to remove the programs. If our programs are incomplete then the old remover tool will be useful to remove the leftover components. Please use our respective remover tools and try installing our AVG program once. If you get the 0xC0070643 Description: Event Exe finished error message, please do let us know. Thank you.
Because of something I did, today, I managed to get a fault with Identity Protected (again). This makes Identity Protected module eat CPU resources so the PC is useless. So, you go to repair in Microsoft's Add/Remove applet, but you find cannot repair because you get exception 0xC0070643.
Okay, so I may have got the same problem I had yesterday.
Okay, so what about these removal programs?: Well, this is what I think is the case:
* If you have installed on your PC any AVG product, running AVG_Remover.exe will identify your apps, and you can then chose which to remove.
* If you get an incomplete installation of AVG Antivirus (possibly only 2015 I think, not sure) running AVG_Remover.exe will NOT WORK because it will NOT find AVG antivirus installed. In that case, you have to use : avg_remover_stf_x86_2015_5501.exe
* If you ever want to remove AVG Zen, then you use : avgfmwremoverx
I think AVG Zen gets installed wjhen you install with AVG_Protection_Free_698.exe. I think.
So, I think I may have answered my own question. Unless there are errors in what I've said.
