Which picks up malware packets first, AVG or wireshark?

Hi, I am using wireshark. Does AVG catch malware before my windows 10 wireshark? I want to learn how to use wireshark to detect malware. I know this is difficult, unless I have an up to date malware signiture database. I am just curious. I know I can use alerts in wireshark. But to do that I have to see the signiture (is this the only way?) of the malware first. I here that wireshark can not stop malware, so I guess I am looking for helping me understand these two processes and how they work on network traffic malware.
