Also, you can try to uninstall AVG Antivirus free and then reinstall it.

well the one i downloaded is for windows XP
ive just uninstalled and reinstalled avg . white cross on red circle still there. this is avg for windows xp.
this happened before and i had install another product. then i reistalled avg again and it was ok till tonight
