"Why am I getting messages that www.google.com is unsafe"  Furthermore sometimes I can't even send a simple message as I get told Google isn't connected. Doesn't AVG protect that kind of thing? 

I'd even filled in an comment card for AVG - 2 hours later I still can't send it.

Let me clarify this for you.

Sometimes you will get the "not secure" message  when the concerned website is not providing a secure connection for a certain period of time.

This issue seems to be with the website. However, AVG will protect you from the hackers or other threats.

Please ensure you are connected to the public Wifi.

Are you getting this message in the other browsers too?

Regarding the account information,  we haven't made any charge recently. The auto renewal for all your subscription has been already cancelled. Therefore, you won't be charged in the future after the expiration of the product.
