Why can't I open iTunes since I had AVG speed up my system and allowed iTunes to run in the background

I have a similar problem I get no sound on Itunes after running AVG tune-up. It worked fine on the Trial version but not since I purchased the package.
ITunes was disabled for start-up during AVG Tuneup but I got a message saying it was enabled when I opened it. Tracks seem to play but there is no sound. Sound is turned up on ITunes and on system.
Also the Rescue centre does not work, it hangs and then asks to send a message to AVG which I have done several times.
Please help – I need Itunes if I am to meet a deadline.
The AVG sys info tool has been running for half an hour without results so I assume that is not working either. Windows XP. Thanks

In order to analyze it please provide us with diagnostic output using this tool and please add detailed description of issue.

since running AVG tuneup iTunes won't open and I get a message that windows will close the program because it is not running properly
