Hello,

Since the threats are in the vault now, I would not expect them to be detected again.  Am I right? Why do you say it might be a false detection?  How can I see that?

I did run an update and found that I was up to date.

I just did a computer scan using AVG AntiVirus Free that resulted in 27 threats.  All were found in my deleted emails.  I have two questions:

1.  Could the threats that were found have been in unopened emails and therefore did no harm or were they opened emails and actually infected my computer?

2.  If AVG scans emails as they arrive, why didn't it find these threats before I did a computer scan?

Thanks for your help.

Doug, actually Karthikeyan was trying to say that these might be a false detection. Yes, If the threat is secured in virus vault then it won't appear again.
Please feel free to contact us if you need any assistance.

Hello Doug,
Thank you for providing the screenshot.
We see from your screensahot that this threats can be a false detection. To confirm this, we suggest you to run the AVG update and see if everything is up to date. And then run the AVG scan. If the threats get detected, please run AVG repair and run the AVG scan.
Thank you.
