Why didn't AVG detect an infected email?

I am very surprised that AVG didn't detect it since this virus has apparently been around since 2006.  Is there a way to forward or submit the email so you can add it to your list of known viruses?

Hi Charles,
Fact that similar type of infection is used since 2006 doesn't tell you anything.
There are hundreds variants of each virus created each day and not all screensavers are infections.
Thanks

I receiverd an email from "eFax Corporate <message@inbound.efax.com>"  with the subject line "Corporate eFax message from "unknown - 2 page(s)".  The email contains a zip file with one file, a .scr file which is disguised as a .pdf file.  I have researched this and this is a well known virus. See here:  http://herrcore.blogspot.com/2013/11/screensaver-malware-like-its-2006.html  I just installed AVG Antivirus Free yesterday and was trying it out as I am dissatisfied with MSE, and I completely uninstalled MSE.  AVG did not detect the virus when the email came in or even when I saved the file to a folder and had AVG specifically scan that folder.  Why didn't AVG detect this virus?  I don't want to upgrade to the paid version if it does not catch well know viruses.  Thanks.

Charles, No AV product is capable of providing you with 100% protection although AVG are always working 24/7.
