Why does AVG corrupt my display driver?

I have a Dell Latitude 10 tablet PC running Windows 8.1 Pro.  Upon install of AVG 2015 the display became very dim, even when set to max briteness.  Upon removal of AVG2015, screen returned to proper functioning.

Any idea whay or how to fix?  Running without AV now…
