Hello Steve,
We apologize to hear about the inconvenience caused. We request you to have a look at these article 1) http://avgclick.me/RestartUpdate & 2) http://avgclick.me/1zeyMDT .
Please, feel free to let us know if you require any further assistance. Thank you.
[apologies if this is already listed elsewhere but I can't see a search facility and I don't have time to wade through postings]
…after forcing an update but before a restart is scheduled?
The scenario that I get fairly often (every week or so), that started a few months back;
* Windows 10 Pro network connectivity working fine during the morning
* Machine left for some time and on return the network connectivity is broken (no Internet access)
[I will attempt to switch AVG firewall off next time this occurs if UI allows me to. Though when in this state I'm pretty sure AV shows the error shown below…]
* I reboot and network connectivity is restored and then AVG nags me to restart following an AVG update.
* Before Restarting via the AVG UI if I start AVG I get 'Sorry An unknown issue has prevented PC TuneUp from installing' (I've never even installed, configured or want TuneUp)
Error code 0xc0070783
* Restarting by, say, accepting the AVG needs a restart, and not hitting Postpone allows the AVG UI to work properly
Observation: When AVG performs an update and the machine is manually restarted via Windows, the machine restarts but AVG still needs to have its 'Restart' button pressed to perform the update. It is not clear why AVG does not take advantage of the restart, but instead insists on another reboot is initiated via it's restart button.
I'm really getting tired of AVG impacting my productivity and am on the verge of switching to another product. The product nagging me with messages caused me to switch from the paid version (which I was previously happy with) to the free version. I pay for a pro version for ability to stop annoying messages interrupting me. Next step is to switch completely if this issue continues.
Steve, The AVG Support Community search facility is @ the top of this page i.e. 'Search support'.

[Search] Arggh, can't see for looking! Sorry.
Regarding your answer.
I already have the 'Complete at next computer restart' setting checked. The behaviour I describe is with that already set.
It sounds more like a product design issue, as I've already set the advanced settings as (I think) makes sense.
Thanks for you suggestion though!
Steve
Yes, I did that about a week ago. (Getting the problem again today prompted me to raise it with the forum.)
Thanks - Steve
Steve,
Thank you for checking it for us. Have you also tried to delete the temporary updates files in AVG and try to update AVG again?
Steve, Also 'Search support'… Have a look @ this AVG article (http://avgclick.me/1zeyMDT).

Hello Steve,
We are sorry to know the issue persists. We suggest you to remove and reinstall the AVG program and see if you the issue gets resolved with the fresh installation of AVG Free. You can use this link to download and run the AVG remover tool
http://download.avg.com/filedir/util/AVG_Remover.exe
Note: Once the removal of AVG is complete, go to C Drive and delete the AVG remover folder. After which you can install AVG Free from this link http://www.avg.com/us-en/avg-antivirus-free.
Thank you
