Why does AVG suppress the MyPCBackup software? It seems to confuse it with some malware, rather than a paid-for back-up service

Graham, False detection… Have a look @ this article (https://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=How-to-report-a-false-incorrect-detection). Also have a look @ this article (https://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=How-to-exclude-file-folder-or-website-from-AVG-scanning).

Graham, did you get this resolved? I have the same problem and MyPCBackup app keeps on getting deleted.

Alan, is there a way to create an exception for a registry key? I made an exception for where the folder in Program Files (x86)/MyPCBackup - so it kept all the files, but AVG still removed the program so it wouldn't work - how can I fix it locally? Thanks.

What's frustrating is that this didn't happen until recently. I had MyPCBackup and AVG for 3 years or so now and only this year it became an issue.

Thanks, Alan.  I have sent off the file as an example of false detection.  Graham.

AVG has started deleting the MyPCBackup software from my W7 PC.  It seems to be confusing it with some malware, and will not let me over-ride the decision.  I pay for the back-up, so will be removing AVG if there is not a solution!
Thanks.

Hi all,
Unfortunately detection is correct.
@Peter did you restore files after exception was made?
Thanks
