Why does it still act as the free version after I've paid?

I had AVG free installed, through the program I used my credit card to pay for a yearly subscription to the real AVG.  I got a licence number and a link in the email, I redownloaded the program from the link, but it's still the free version and I do not know what to do with the license number...
