Hello James,
It seems that there is an issue with the activation of AVG Secure VPN.
Let us get this sorted.
Open AVG Secure VPN window, click on "Logged in" at the top and select "Log out".
Click on "Log in" and enter your AVG my account credentials.
It should get rid off the expiry message on Secure VPN interface.
If the issue persist, reinstall the program and check the status.

ok I have followed this including deleting the files in the avg VPN folder and no change.
At his point i also noticed that my old problem of AVG setting me to the free version had returned, so I have completely uninstalled everything I have deleted all the folders. Reinstalling that seems to have solved the free avg issue.
Sady even this hasn't solved my VPN problem.
I have been with AVG ever since I had an antivirus wel over 10 years ago, but in recent years all this trouble is making wonder if staying is sensible, please sort it out
