Why take unauthorised payments

last year my wife in December agreed to AVG protection and paid 19.99 on 22nd April 79.99 was taken from my account, i did not authorise it and was told by my bank it was a recurring transaction, how can it be 79.99
i am to say the least very angry with this, she signed up on line i have no other record, the bank says i need to make contact with AVG, SPOKE ON PHONE GOT NO WHERE RECOGNISED THE 19.99 BUT NOT THE 79.99
i want a refund or will be issuing county court proceedings, cannot understand a reputable company robbing me of my money, please email back with some sense.
