Robert,
I understand this must be upsetting. From your description, I do not think it is an issue with KRACK attack. AVG can protect your device from damage done after exploiting the vulnerability by detecting the malicious code. I would suggest you to install the drivers that were reported problems with by downloading them on other device. I would also suggest you to disable AVG temporarily (right click AVG system tray icon and toggle On/Off slider) and check if the internet connects to confirm no conflict.
If the issue persist after the above troubleshooting, please contact your device manufacturer for further help.
I have the best Internet protection with AVG and have had it on my HP 2000 laptop for many years. I always make sure the anti-virus updates are current. HERE IS MY PROBLEM: I turned off my HP 2000 laptop on October 9th, 2017, and it was powered off until I returned home on October 14th, 2017. I turned the laptop ON to sign into gmail and I couldn't get an Internet connection. The Verizon home wi-fi router was working as the iPAD I have was able to connect to the Internet. So, I did a lot of searching on my laptop--trouble-shooting--and the testing said that the RALINK RT5390 802.11b/g/n wi-fi adapter was working properly. However, trouble-shooting reported "IPv4 connectivity - not connected" and "IPv6 connectivity - not connected." I made sure that wi-fi was turned ON in the laptop Settings. So, nothing I have tried has re-instated the connectivity. Could the KRACK problem have caused this connectivity failure? I see that the warning about KRACK came out on Oct. 10th. Was I protected from KRACK by my AVG system? ALSO, doing trouble-shooting resulted in what appears to be Driver issues. I got "Problems with Driver: Local Area Connection Adapter" and "Problems with Driver: Wireless Network Connection Adapter." I am using a different laptop to send this information. Everything seems to be working fine on the HP 2000, EXCEPT I can't get an Internet connection. I reset the Verizon wi-fi router per the instructions, turning off the laptop first, but when I powered up the router and turned on the HP 2000 laptop, there was still no Internet connection. ALSO, I tried using my Android tablet that has the wi-fi ability to connect 5 computers to the Internet. I tried connecting the HP laptop to it, but got the same "no Internet" as with the Verizon wi-fi router. The Android tablet is working because I'm using it to send this problem information. Of course, with no Internet, I can't download any Driver update on the HP 2000. Any ideas as to a fix? Do I need to download the latest Drivers for the RALINK wi-fi adapter on the HP 2000, on this computer, then transfer and install them in the HP 2000? THANKS! Bob
