If you suspect that AVG is causing the issue, you can disable AVG protection temporarily to check.

Is there a possibility that avg internet security does not allow the wifi extender device to connect to the internet?
I would really appreciate if you can help.

Ηι, thanks a lot for your prompt reply.
Finally I've managed to connect the device to the internet, by turning off all my appliances that are connected to my email a/c (which is secured by AVG) and using a smartphone which was connected to an email not secured by AVG.
