Having previously (faultlessly) used and really liked AVG for a number of years with my old intel motherboard PC I naturally elected to use it on my new HP PC. As a result, I suffered the same fate, by loading AVG into my HP Pavilion 23 it caused the PC to lock up preventing it to even boot. The 64 bit removal tool is useless with a corrupt PC that won't even boot (not even into safe mode) as a result of loading the AVG. Twice I performed a low level format and fully re-installed, both times the PC was locked up causing me hours of work trying to correct the problem.
I can assure AVG that the issue is not associated with a corrupt installation, there is definately a compatability issue.
Hello Rob. We am sorry you ran into that problem. You can count on us. We will take you through alternative ways to do that. Let's perform a fresh clean installation to fix this. I request you to run AVG remover tool based on your OS (32-bit or 64-bit) to completely remove AVG and then re install. To determine whether your OS is a 32-bit or 64-bit, please click on this link. http://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/827218
We are sorry to know about the experience that you had with AVG. It looks like that there is some compatibility issue, but we will not be able to confirm it unless we analyze the logs. Few issues might occur when you have both old and new version of AVG are installed together. This can be resolved by running both clear and remover tools as mentioned in this article (https://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=Uninstall-AVG-software-Clear-Remover). We also advise customers to update their windows operating system inorder to avoid compatablility issues. If you consider to use our program, we are ready to help! Thank you.

Further, I am not prepared to attempt loading again because I know that it will cause the same problem as soon as it is loaded and I have wasted enough of my life because of this problem.
