Windows 10: File Explorer and external hard drives won't open

I am also having a problem with starting the File Explorer since the new version of AVG got installed 2 days ago. Starting it from the taskbar or through Windows+X seems to crash and restart the Windows Explorer (icons dissapear for a moment and than come back). Didn't restart immediately after AVG install, restarted yesterday and have the problem since. After clearing the Quick Access, I have normal access to File Explorer from the desktop This PC shortcut, but still not from the taskbar and Win+X. Tried unpinning and pinning again, no help. Created new shortcut on desktop, no help. Even the right click on the shortcut (also on This PC) crashes the WinExplorer.

Hello Andrew,
We are sorry to know that, could you please tell us the version  of AVG you are using in your computer? Is it a free or paid version? Also tell us whether you are receiving any error message while trying to access File explorer and External hard drives, so that we can check and help you.
Thank you

In the last few days, in Windows 10 on my desktop pc, I haven't been able to open File Explorer or my external hard drives.  I have read that this could be because of AVG.  Is that true ?  Is there a way to fix it ?

Thank you.  I have the full, paid for version.  (Personal, not profesional use. Does that tell you enough ?)

No error message.  I get a very brief glimpse of the File Explorer or External Drive screen I have selcted, which then disappears and I am returend to the desktop screen.
