On January 20, 2018 Microsoft pushed out version 17074.1002 to the Windows 10 Pro Insider Preview community (of which I am part). Once thie update hit my machine, AVG antivirus/firewall stopped working. Initially recieved several messages that it was blocked by Windows Defender. After several hours on chat and remote control with AVG support (which attempted to uninstall and reinstall my AVG Ultimate), their advise was to regress to an earlier version of MS Windows 10. This suggests to me that AVG is NOT compatible with the soon to be latest Windows 10 release… For now I have fully enables MS Windows defender and left AVG uninstalled… hopefully this will be addressed by AVG soon…
Hello Juanita,
I can assure you that AVG Internet Security 2017 is compatible with the update and is working without any issues with it. In fact, AVG is compatible since December 5th when we've released an update fixing all the issues seen in the pre-release version of the fix. Since that time we are working with Microsoft on testing it and we've seen no issues since then.
Microsoft is very conservative with the fix deployment since it changes critical things in the OS logic and has a potential to break all products that integrate with the OS deeply (such as Antivirus software - all brands). For this reason, we are working with MS on ensuring the compatibility way more than is common for regular OS patches.
If you think you need the fix installed before it gets delivered by the Windows Update automatically, you can always install it manually from here:
Manually download and install the update from the Microsoft website:

I just got a new Dell, Windows 10 desktop computer 2 months ago. I am not a real tech person and this whole Intel thing scares me. I have and have had a paid version of AVG INTERNET SECURITY for the past 4 years, renewing yearly. I understand some of the AVG support people here are saying my AVG will work with the new Windows patch for the Meltdown issue but there are far to many people commenting here that it is not working for them. They are uninstalling AVG, then doing a repair and or reinstalling and that's just not acceptable to me. I have Defender disabled on my new desktop as I preferred AVG (otherwise I would not have purchased it for the past 4 years) but if this does not get fixed with AVG, when I turn my desktop on tomorrow when my local computer store is open (I see nightmares happening) I will have them help me remove AVG and activate my Defenders program and be done with AVG. This is crazy for you to tell us it will work (as of Jan. 3, 2018 YOU SAY!) then far to many people as recently as today, tell us it is not working!!! Which version is the truth? Yours or your customers? Your customers, especially the paying one's ARE YOUR BUSINESS!

Hello Juanita,
I understand your concern on this update. Please be informed that Windows update is released in the way that it is compatible with AVG programs. The necessary changes were already made by AVG before the release of this latest Windows update. If you get any error message from AVG, please send me the screenshot http://avgclick.me/getscreenshot of the message. We will check the same and assist you further.

Hello Rick,
I understand your concern. Please be informed that Windows 10 Pro Insider Preview is similar to the Beta version. AVG will be compatible only with Windows Genuine version. So I would request you to wait until the official Windows new update release to use AVG.
