Windows 7 will not sleep

Hi. I posted this before and it was escalated - Request #04191339. I downloaded data from the AVG Sysinfo tool as requested but did not receive a response from AVG – I don’t know why, I have a 4 user / 2 year license.
Summary :
Following AVG update on 02Jan17, my PC will not sleep. It’s set in control panel to sleep after 10 min but it just freezes instead – the fan continues, the screen goes black and no response to the Windows key or anything else. My only option is to power off and restart.
If I uninstall AVG – the PC sleeps normally.
Any ideas much appreciated - Windows 7 Pro / Internet Security 2016
Thanks Peter

Thanks for your replies but something strange is going on.
I tried to post the above message several times yesterday but each time I received an error message saying I had insufficient privileges. Then this morning, I found 5 replies. I look forward to advice on the Win7 sleep issue. Thanks Peter
