Hello Cheryl,
We are sorry to hear that. Could you please confirm whether you are facing issues with updating your Windows PC? If so we kindly request you to contact Microsoft support so that they could assist you better in resolving your issue's.
Thank you.
It may seem quite backwards to keep a device with Windows Vista, or not simply just upgrade to 10. However, I am unlikely to use this device for much more than writing - no connecting to the internet (I have a tablet for that), or a phone. Frankly, I am not sure why I need to update anything anymore except I cannot seem to connect to my printer (still trying to figure that one out - and that might be the printer).
The Laptop device is for one thing only. I have newer devices for the rest of my life. For my writing, I am simply old-school. Plus, I still have to figure out how to get the darn files off my laptop to another device if it comes to the fact that I cannot use it.
Please help!

Hello Cheryl,
In that case please try to upgrade your Windows system or repair your windows installation using the installation disk and check whether it resolves the issue.
Thank you.
