Windows Feature Update to Windows 10 version 1903

I have re-run avgclear, this time inb safe mode.  My AVG version is 19.8.3108.  When avg clear completes, announcing avg uninsattled, there is a button to be clicked to restart.  Clicking this button does not restart the PC.  I have searched for  files 'avgui.exe' or 'avastui.exe'  the only file found of any similar name is appicon_avgui.exe_5e47a9ed650c3193 (two copies) which I assume has nothing to do with this issue?  Every time my PC boots I still get a blue screen op system choice between AVG Antivirus Clear Uninstall and Windows 10.  Once booted into Windows 10 the PC is noticeably slower to get to the login screen.  I have now faithfully followed your instructions.  Should I delete the appicon_avgui.exe_5e47a9ed650c3193 files - wil this make any difference?  What should I next do to get rid of the AVG Clear operating system?

Oh dear!  Not only did I have to find my own fix for the mystery AVG Clear boot sector entry … I have subsequently received two e-mails (one attached below) asking me to provide feedback.  You'll note my name is Joe, but the mail asks Avinash {an AVG guy who tried to help me} if he (I?) found the AVG Community hepful.  Ignoring this I clicked NO and this hyperlinked to http://survey.clicktools.com/app/survey/go.jsp?iv=2uhanmjzl9i5f&q1=Windows+Feature+Update+to+Windows+10+version+1903&q2=9060N000000EYFp&q3=No&q4=09347152&q5=5000N00001y1hnf

We appreciate your efforts & glad to know that you've managed to sort the Windows update issue, Joe.
Regarding the screen that you refer, seems that AVG Clear has induced itself as an boot option & you're being prompted to select one upon startup.
To ensure this, you can share us the snapshot of the screen here. To do so, Click on Answer & select mountain symbol (image) - Browse for the file & attach it here. If this attempt fails, we'll request the screenshot via email.
Thank you for your understanding in advance!

AVG_Cear.exe and AVG_Remover.exe will not clear all instances of the AVG exe file, especially if it is hiding in the Google Drive folder on the laptop. In my case I removed it manually and the Windows 10, 1903 update installed. Do a search of the C: drive and other drives on your laptop for AVGui.exe and find all AVG exe files

OK.  I have done everything you suggested.  Run avg Clean. Deleted two copies of appicon_avgui.exe_5e47a9ed650c3193.  Reinstalled AVG Free 19.8.3103. Run the Windows update process.  Windows now updated and AVG installed.
HOWEVER, system boot still produces a blue screen with a choice of two 'operating systems' … Windows 10 and "AVG Antivirus Clear Uninstall".  Give me an e-mail address and I'll send you a photograph.
How do I get rid of this modification to the boot sequence please?

This is really not funny.
Having run AVG Clean exactly as per your instructions, not only is Windows still not updatable with a new AVG load installed …  I also get a blue screen every time Windows boots asking me if I want to invove the AVG Clean operating system or the Windows 10 operating system.
I'm not doing anything else until you tell me how to rectify that alteration to my system.  Can you please do so?

Windows update process has prompted me to apply the feature update to 1903, then said it cannot do so as AVG is incompatible.
Therefore I uninstalled AVG, went to the AVG website and downloaded AVG Free again, then installed it succesfully.
Lastly I tried to apply the Windows feature update, but got the same refusal for the same reason.

Any ideas?

Priyanga,   The only file I can uniquely associate with AVG Clear is the one I downloaded - avgclear.exe (12.279MB).  Having downloaded it I copied it to one of my pesonal folders and ran it from there.  I have deleted all copies of this file from all directories on the PC and restrated the PC.  Unsurprisingly this has made no difference to the issue.
You say "delete the folders" … I assume AVG Clear will have spawned folders and files that it has placed somewhere in my PC when I ran the .exe file.  But I have no way of identifying those folders/files or of knowing how to find them on my system.  So how can I follow you advice and delete them?  Can you be more precise in your instructions please?

Joe,

We thank you for reporting the issue you noticed in our survey email.

We will forward this to the concern team and have it fixed at the earlist.

Trying to get sensible support from you guys is a nightmare.  I get e-mails that tell me to refer to an e-mail from Santosh … well I have more than one!  None of them assist in rsolving the fact that running avgclear according to your instructions have made a material and detrimental difference to the boot sequence on my PC.  Please can you actually provide some support either by advice on this community messaging system or to mey e-mail - I don't care which, rather than sending daft responses like the above?  When you give me advice I follow it; when I ask you questions you don't answer them.  How about helping??

Joe, please accept our apologies for the inconvenience caused.
I'd request you to avail the free technical support offered in an email sent by Santhosh to resolve this issue.

We are sorry to hear this.

We will help you to resolve this issue.

We have offered our additional support through email. Please check for the email and connect back to us as soon as possible.

Joe, we are here to help you with your concern.

Regarding the appicon_avgui.exe, I request you to delete the file manually from your PC and install your AVG programs and update Windows 10 to the new version and check if you are able to complete it.

Since we wanted to provide better assistance, we have sent an email to connect to our remote experts to resolve this issue.

Please follow the steps as instructed in the email.

Joe, let's delete the folders related to AVG clear tool manually from the downloads page and in C drive. Reboot your PC and check the status.
Keep us informed to proceed further.

Guys, I lost patience with this … it's consumed far too much time.  I went into msconfig, then Boot and deleted the AVG Clear entry.  I'd respectfully suggest your developers have badly screwed up on maintaining Windows compatibility and on creating AVG Clear as a robust tool.

Joe, appreciate your efforts in following our instructions but we regret to hear that the issue persists.
Did you search your hard disk for files 'avgui.exe' or 'avastui.exe' and deleted if found?

Second post as I couldn't seem to add text after inserting the image above … this has been a change to the system since I first ran AVG Clear and has persisted through the Windows update.  Clicking on the AVG icon shown has variously rebooted the system in safe mode and in normal mode.  I would repeat … in case it is relevant … that the termination phase of the AVG Clear process is an announcement that it has completed and a button to click to restart the computer … clicking that buttton has no effect, no matter how long you wait.  Does AVG Clear perhaps not 'clean up' after itself?

Hi,  I got an e-mail asking me to send a screenshot.  As the issue occurs in the boot phase, this is of course a photo, not a snip.
