Hi Dave Clark,
Sorry to read that you experienced issues with this week's AVG TuneUp debacle.
From what I went through, TuneUp v20.1 - and even the updated version AVG said was fixed - caused a cascading series of issues on Windows 10 (see my OP somewhere in the forum).
After spending hours fixing the issues, I decided to quit AVG altogether and switched over to a competitor product which offered more features than TuneUp for less $ for a similar number of devices covered by AVG and which had consistently been ranked among the top total internet security packages as reviewed by CNet, Tom's Hardware, TechRadar, etc in the last few years.
In essence, there has been poor development and even poorer testing done … which does not sit well for me as I cannot afford to have my personal and work computers down for whatever reasons.
All the best.
Michael
Passive mode means AVG is disabled temporarily.
We'd suggest you to take advantage of our free remote assistance to investigate further on this, by following the steps in the email that has been sent to you.
How can I link/URL direct to this call instead of having to search for it. Hard to find if lots of calls.
Yes, Dave.
I assure that AVG TuneUp update did not conflict with Windows security on your PC.
Did you check for pending Windows updates on your PC and install them as requested?
Thank you for sharing the screenshot, David.
Is it a personal computer or work PC? The recent issue in AVG TuneUp has been fixed and if it has caused this issue, it should be resolved now.
Please make sure you have latest Windows updates installed and verify this issue.
What does "If you set the AVG in to the passive mode" mean?
I have unintalled and reinstalled TuneUp - still have the problem
Yes, my PC is always updated with the latest Windows updates.
Hi David.
Are you receiving this error message when you try to access Ransomware protection feature in AVG Internet Security?
Are you logged on to your PC with admin rights? Could you share a screenshot (https://bit.ly/30ptlLh) of the error message?
So my ransomware problem was not caused by this weeks Tuneup problem?
