Please let us know the operating system & version of AVG that is installed on your computer. (Open AVG - Menu - About).
Initially, you can be rest assured that AVG will not remove any files from the computer without an user's consent.
Also, let us know what happens exactly while printing. Do you receive any error message?
Meanwhile, if you suspect that AVG is causing the issue, please disable AVG protection temporarily & restart the computer once to check.

NB I have tried to disable the avg anti virus , but I am not able to. Also, there is no error message on trying to print documents. It lets me select the print option as normal and when I confirm the print option it takes me into the save as option,
