I have the same problem on my XP. I've tried reloading AVG 3 times to no avail…
This morning, I manually updated my XP systems, and they received an update that wasn't there yesterday. Now all the XP machines can successfully complete their scans. Whatever you did AVG, it worked. Thank you for such a rapid fix to the problem!
Has anyone else had trouble with AVG Internet Security 2015 rebooting XP machines during virus scan? I have 5 different machines all running XP Pro 32-bit, and they all reboot approximately 20% into a scan. My Windows 7 and Windows 10 machines don't have this problem.

Hello Mark, I apologize for the inconvenience caused. I have resent the email now. Please check it and follow the instructions. Thank you.
Mark, May I know you tried to update the AVG program and scan the system? If not kindly please update the program. Thank you.
The AVG scan only detects the Trojan horse Agent5.AETS infected files if you have the scan setting for "enable thorough scanning" activated! So no threats detected may not be valid. I have worked with two AVG technicians who were not able to resolve it. Now waiting for some Senior Techie to contact me.

Hello - I had the same problem of the scan hitting twenty percent then rebooting the computer. I contacted avg and two different people took remote control and tried to fix it but when that didn't work they escalated the case and said someone would be in touch. That was two days ago. Two sleepless nights later I've heard nothing, but the scan this morning was fine…phew…but I'm still worried that the five threats the scans detected are still hiding in the system somewhere as it doesn't say it's got rid of them. Is that possible or was it just part of the problem update? I'm not at all techie and this has been a complete nightmare. I even started to worry that I'd inadvertently given my sysem over to scammers as I hadn't heard anything back from avg! Thank God I thought to look on the forum and saw other people have the same problem.
