Having worked fine for a number of years, my laptop will not now complete the start up process. After showing the usual Windows XP start up page I get an error message c:ProgrammeFiles\AVG\AVG2014\avglogx.dll is not a valid Windows image and the screen freezes. I'd appreciate any advice on fixing this, please

Thanks for your responses. Yes, Alan, it's SP3,
Kishore: I've uninstalled AVG as per your instructions, and I have been able to get back in. When I tried to reinstall, I needed my license number but it seems that this is registered to an old and now defunct email account, even though my renewal came through to my current one! So I can't access my license details and cant establish which services I had purchased. I've downloaded the basic anti-virus protection for now. I don't want to post my details here so can you email me with a reply to address so I can try to sort this out, please.
Roddie, For your info, just in case that you are unaware, you can post the screenshot here in your topic. Click on 'Answer' & then click on the 'Image' [mountain symbol] & follow the instructions.
