I've got AVG Internet Security Full and I keep getting network dropouts on my clients server even though I've added their server address to the 'friends' list.
It works for a couple of hours then drops out.
To troubleshoot, I do a continuous ping to the server which gives no response, then turn of the firewall through the AVG panel, then I get a response from the server. I then turn the firewall back on and it keeps working but only for a couple of hours.
Is there a 'friends network' timeout setting I need to change or something?
G'day Akash,
Have completed the repair and applied the changes specified above and as expected, this did not fix the issue, nothing has changed…
Hello Ware,
I understand the inconvenience caused, let's work together to fix this issue. We do not have "Friends network" timeout settings in AVG Firewall. In this case, I request you to change AVG Firewall network profile to private (open AVG Internet Security > menu > settings > components > firewall > customize > network profile > change all the network public to private), please go to Firewall customize settings again > scroll down > click on system rules > enable all the system rules if it's not configured, please click OK and check if you can access all the friends server with enabled AVG Internet Security/AVG Firewall.
Best regards,
Alok.
G'day Akash,
Thansk for your response.
I've manually added the client server (even though it was already in the 'friends' list) and it has stayed connected for a couple of hours now, so it appears to have been fixed however will reserve my judgement when it has stayed connect all day.
It really should be easier to do this sort of thing should it?
G'day Alok,
Thansk for your reply. I've completed the process above and will report back if it times out again.
Regards,
Wade
Hi Wade,
Sorry to know that the issue still persists.
Please add the Client Server in the AVG Firewall and check if that resolves the issue. Here is an article with the steps: How to block or allow IP addresses in the AVG Firewall

Thank you for informing the status, Wade.
In this case, I request you to (repair) AVG Internet Security and check whether the issue persists.
Keep us informed about the status.
G'day Alok,
I completed what you said above and it has slowed my machine down (alot) and not solved the problem.
I still get timeouts and have to disable AVG to reconnect then reenable AVG again.
Wade, the repair of AVG Internet Security has to be done from control panel settings.
However, you can update the recommended Firewall settings provided by Alok initially.
If the issue persists, then we can provide further assistance on this matter.
Thanks for your reply. IS this completed through the AVG panel or through the windows app panel?
I'm not sure how this will help since won't it reset all of the tweaks I had to make (that I had to ask your assistance for previously) to even get any of the outside world to be able to communicate.I'm not sure why it needs to be this problematic.
Hello Wade,
Yes, it will be easy if the concept is clear. Keep us informed about the status.
Best regards,
Alok.

G'day Bala,
I note your previous reply (which doesn't appear to be here anymore):
"Wade, the repair of AVG Internet Security has to be done through control panel settings.
However, I just received information from senior team that this is a known issue and confirmed as a bug.
Our developers are working on this and the fix will be released in 18.1 version.
The version should be released during this week. Hence, keep updating Internet Security to know the status.
We appreciate your patience and understanding in this matter. "
Do I need to do a repair or is your advice to wat for the update which is supposed to fix this issue.
