Worrying message intrudes onto computer

Hi Ken,

We aren't sure whether the message that appeared is due to a virus or other threats.
If the message appears again, do take a quick screenshot of it and send us here.
You can post the screenshot here in your topic. Click on 'Answer' & then click on the 'Image' [mountain symbol] & follow the instructions. 
It is also recommended to perform a deep scan using AVG.
To do that, open AVG Antivirus/Internet Security interface.
Click on gear icon near "scan computer" and select "deep scan".

A message flashed up on the screen with a loud horn noise saying all my files would be erased within 3 seconds. I immediately switched off without reading any more of the message.
Why has AVG not stopped this?
