Hello Moshe. Some of the traces of the previous installation might caused the issue. I would request you to run AVG remover tool based on your OS (32-bit or 64-bit) to completely remove AVG and then re install the program. To determine whether your OS is a 32-bit or 64-bit, please click on this link. http://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/827218

Hi,
I want to thank you all for the support, The solution did work for me and I managed to install the Antivirus properly on Windows 7.
I upgaded to Windows 10​ (that caused the whole thing…) and was glad to find out that everything remained in place as expected.
Thank you so much, I will keep the solution in case I will need it again (hopefuly not…)

Hi,
After upgrading to Windows 10 the Antivirus AVG stoped working. I uninstalled/reinstalled several times, recovered back my Windows to Windows 7 and kept getting the error "

writing config value failed"

Can't install. I have renewed my license on  March 2015.
Please help.   Thanks.
