Wrongly quarantined Cleanmymac X

Same issue for me. AVG quarantines my CleanMyMAC app. However I prefer keeping the PUAs ON so, I just refuse to quarantine or take it back from the quarantine when necessary… It is always annoying beeing safe…

Hi there
I disabled scanning for PUAs from > Preferences > Scanning. But CleanMyMac still not working
I'll restart my mac…

I did notice the Cleanmymac as exception, deleted the old version and shut down and restarted my computer, then the same action on reinstalling the programm Cleanmymac. When doing this the programm was immediatly moved into quarantine and no progress.
So all AV Gurus, your advice does not solve the problem
I want my money back and I will not use this program on any Mac PC any longer.
Sorry I was really a fan on the windows systems but this is my time and its to expensive to be vasted with non functional advise.
Please tell my how to de-install and get money back.

Just to echo what everyone has said above, the customer service experience I've seen in this forum as it relates to the CleanMyMac app is quite disappointing.  Case in point: could a customer service rep from AVG not have checked the AppEsteem list themselves to see that CleanMyMac was removed back in September?  Doesn't make sense to make frustrated and dissatified customers do the work that AVG's product engineers should be doing…if CleanMyMac has been "fixed" on the list below since 9/30/20, then why do I, as that customer, have to prove it?

Good grief.  Screen shot below.  Please fix this issue already, and don't tell me that the fix means I have to render inoperable one of the key security components in the program!

AppEsteem screen shot on 11-24-20 showing that CleanMyMac X has been removed from the Deceptors list

The APPESTEEM shows the issues with CleanMyMac as corrected and is NO LONGER on their list.   Why is AVG still treating CMM this way?

I am furious as AVG has quarantined Cleanmymac X which is a legitimate paid for program. I have spent wasted hours trying to recover it. I have re-installed AVG which claims there's nothing in quarantine.

How can I restore Cleanmymac X quickly please???

Hi Smith,

Please be informed that Apple macOS CleanMyMac X application are detected as a PUP.
The reason is they are marked as a deceptor by APPESTEEM - https://secure-web.cisco.com/100HHxDtQGTRCQO4zOJQ5qs2MVBSVB9715mcK56s4RCcSj4QQwJPEeJpPMlHBB-a3fkheJfGL4RCct8hFt-dUZRicRMC1g3DcqV0Pcb9SBVwR-o-Gmu5UPEZ3Rwh3TaDVGcnoTcfSgRt4usLZAAj-LxpANNR-6VP_IdEQZYmf4edvE1gLMhL_K6b6ikhyOIhAwi-wvyhiccmNeVRMWh19NTdylKVQ_72J_E42Tb13uRqSf5lQ8-3TDSMuWTNPraz2QUAo5zFruTQ36YWFQRbdvy4-0ahDm1RHjFsOvJmT-tMX8eHQEva_1lULcx4Ziyql/https%3A%2F%2Fcustomer.appesteem.com%2FHome%2FDeceptorFix

However, only possible solution to use the application is to set an exception for the file shield.
After setting the exception users may need to reinstall the CleanMyMac X application.

To Santhosh, there is no System Restore on an Apple Mac!

Oh, by the way Dinesh, the email you sent me was address to Lena. I am NOT Lena!
Also Midhun, the email you sent me was address to Chris, I am NOT Chris!

How unprofessional from Customer Support, gives no confidence in AVG as a company.

Hi Lena,

Please restart your MAC after disabling the mentioned option. If issue persists, please write back to us in your own post to keep the conversation simple & to proceed further. Thank you for your understanding in advance!

After many hours trying to recover CleanMyMac X I finally managed to restore it, NOT WITH ANY HELP FROM AVG! A full day wasted! CleanMyMac X was bought 14 months ago and is used daily, AVG has also been on my system for more than a year too, so, why would it quarintine CleanMyMac X now???

First job I gave my restored CleanMyMac X was to completely uninstall AVG and remove all traces of it from my system. I have found a better antivirus program.

Keep us posted.

I am just recovering from the same issue!!

I am just recovering from exactly the same issue. I emptied the quarantined files without realising that I was deleting CleanMyMac X. I had to reinstall using a copy downloaded from the MacPaw website.
