Your trial has expired --- How do I get past this?

I know this is an old post but I have the same problem.  Like the OP I have the free version of AVG, but I have a trial has expired message and I cannot scan or check for updates etc.  I uninstalled AVG then loaded AVG free.  The message came back.  How can I revert to AVG free?

Getting sick of AVG since Avast bought it.  I have many complaints since the change.
1 - monthly updates requiring reboot.  I have over 100 computers and I'm getting sick of rebooting them every month because you want to change the interface.  Figure out what the f you want it to look like and get it there in one shot.  Yeah, I know I can send a reboot from the maintenance server.  Great, do you work in the real world where users don't understand how to logoff/reboot/basically anything?

2 - random loss of license key.  None of our 150 computers have ever had AVG trial installed but still i get the "trial has expired" with no way to re-enter the key other than uninstall, clear, clean, repair and and and and…  I don't have time to do 500 steps to do something as simple as entering a key.  NO I'M NOT GOING TO GO THROUGH THE HASSLE OF MODIFYING MY NETWORK, UNINSTALLING, CLEANING, ON AND ON AND ON.  FIX YOUR SHIT.  MAYBE INSTEAD OF CONTINUOUSLY WASTING MY TIME WITH REBOOTS FOR GUI LAYOUT YOU SHOULD FIX YOUR SOFTWARE SO I DON'T HAVE TO WASTE DAYS WITH THIS KIND OF CRAP.

3 - Here's a smart one, lets remove the option in the GUI for computers connected to a maintenance server so the only way you can update the key is if the PC is currently connected.  Brilliant move as long as the computer is connected.  PRETTY STUPID FOR THOSE OFF THE NETWORK.  Why would you remove the option???  Never mind, I don't really care why.  Put it back.

4 - How about the AVG log directory that ends up with over 1.3 million files in it and AVG can't function because of it.  Took me over 30 minutes the other day to manually delete all the files and this is on an I7 processor with 32G RAM.  Had this happen on 5 or 6 computers with your last update.  Another reason to get your shit together and stop doing such freequent program updates.

I can go on but I'm already tired from spending all my time fixing AVG issues.

FYI, I DON'T WANT/NEED A REPLY NOR WILL I RESPOND IF YOU DO.
JUST FIX IT AND STOP MESSING WITH THE GUI AND THAT WILL BE REPLY ENOUGH FOR ME.

Well mine still saying the same thing. How to bypass it?
User-added image

I don't accept answer like "Uninstall it" "Install it" "Clean it up". I just wanted to bypass to AVG Free interface. How hard can it be? Even Avast is better in this.

I am also now getting a similar problem.  I have just paid for a new subscription, and got an email saying how to activate my license, which said: "Open AVG, Click on Support in the top menu, then Reactivate, Enter your license number and select Activate."  Trouble was, there wasn't a "Reactivate" to click on.  Now it's saying "Your AVG Internet Security trial has expired" and "Please, connect to the internet to be able to Renew your AVG Internet Security."  I am connected to the internet.  How / where do I enter my new license number?  This is very infuriating.  What happened to AVG updating itself seamlessly?  Last year I had to uninstall and old version of AVG manually once it had "updated" itself, and now this...

I have only registered so I could reply to this nonsense.

When you waste someone's time like you did waste mine, vince simons, and many more, you should do better than reccommend a lengthy procedure for cleaning up your own mess.

This nagware of yours is being uninstalled as we speak…

Screenshot

I've done everything in this thread (used the Clear Tool and the Remover Tool and re-installed through the link below that), but I still get the message as shown in the screenshot (for example when I try to scan a file by right clicking and selecting scan). (Sorry for the screenshot being in Dutch.)

I also noticed that after using the clear and remover tool my taskbar still showed the AVG icon in the bottom right (with the other running programs), so I think it wasn't even completely uninstalled by those two programs, eventhough it didn't show up in the list of installed programs anymore.
I really want to keep using AVG, but the way it is now, I can't even scan a file on my harddrive because of the message popping up…

Thanks for the suggestion, but when I try that all I got was an error message: scripthelper has stopped working.  I never say an option to Switch to AVG AntiVirus FREE.

Hello Balasubramanian
Dont understand how these message pages work.
I got no email of your reply above, the only way I could trace this thread was by looking in my History!
and yet I did get an email of this -

"If expired message appearing for the free version, then it is necessary to perform a re-installation using the removal tools.
Run AVG removal tool followed by Clear tool as mentioned (here).
NOTE: If there are no AVG program found, click on "Run Anyway" to proceed with the removal.
To install AVG Antivirus free, follow the steps as mentioned (here)."

To re-iterate - I DO have AVG anti virus FREE, I have never paid any subscription.

As I said I had the same issues as others in this thread - Old AVG Free showing 'trial has expired' message - had to uninstall using Clear Tool and the Remover Tool etc - then finally managed to re -download new AVG FREE but it asked me to activate my account and subscribe.
It is definitely AVG Antivirus Free - When I click on 'My AVG - my subscription'   it shows an expiry date of 05/03/2019.
Can you please confirm that it is free. Thank you

I have the free version of AVG, but I had a 'trial has expired' message.
I've done everything in this thread, used the Clear Tool and the Remover Tool etc and eventually managed to re-install AVG Free which asked me to 'confirm subscription' - also gives a subscription expiry date - can you confirm its still FREE please.

Kishore,
I don't think you ever exactly got the point of "John's" comments here…or perhaps connot comment in that manner.
But I wanted to add that I also had this issue. The (propperly named by "John") nagware keeps popping up, which will bring me out of a full-screen game, and that is crazy annoying. Even MORE annoying is that there is no way to just tell it NO, which would be a simple fix. The solution given (going to uninstall thorugh windows and telling the uninstaller to switch to free-mode) may have been the case before, but is no longer correct.
This would be a super-simple thing for AVG to fix, and is doing them more harm than good (if they think that this will force people to get the paid version, they are sadly mistaken).

Kishore, if you can't say anything about this, then perhaps you can link to somewhere where myself, john and vince can file a formal complaint about this specific issue. I switch ant-viruses everytime there's one better-rated for my OS, but I'd like to not run into this issue again.
Thanks

That seems to have worked.  Thank you.

How do I get past this if I don't want to "BUY"?

Well mine still saying the same thing. How to bypass it?

Hello L T,

If you don't have AVG Antivirus free, then it means that you have AVG Internet Security installed.
If it shows the correct expiry date, then it means that you have the paid subscription activated.
Feel free to contact us if you need further assistance.

Hello Adam,

I understand this must be upsetting.
The email instructions provided for activation is actually for old version.
We are working to provide the activation steps through email for the latest version and it will be implemented at the earliest as possible.
For the issue discussed in this post, it is recommended to perform a complete re-installation using our removal tools.
Run AVG Removal tool followed by AVG Clear tool, as mentioned (here).
NOTE: If there are no AVG program found, click on "Run Anyway" to proceed with the removal.
Proceed to install your paid AVG program and keep us informed about the status.
