So,
I just had an nice remote controle session with an AVG support advisor. The answer to this problem is just to add any trouble making program to the exception list and everything is fine. In my opinion this is what makes AVG unusable. Even worse it makes AVG needless (imho).
To be clear: When your anti-virus programm is false detecting many legit programs, you AVG, did something wrong. I don't have a need for your security program when I had to make exceptions for every second programm.
And this is how the storry ends (at least for me).
Hello youboring,
We are sorry to know that you are finding issues in accessing certain apps with 'Identity protection' enabled. To analyze the issue, we suggest you to get reconnected to our senior technicians at your own convenient time. We have also sent email with the instructions to get connected to them. Thank you.
As I'm typing this problem is occuring again. I can open windows file explorer, microsoft edge, which both come with win 10. I'm not able to open spotify, skype, teamviewer, irfanview etc, just to give you an idea. The only way to get around it is to temporarily disable avg real time protection, but it doesn't work anymore: i click disable protection for 10 mins, the UAC comes up ask if I want to do this. I click yes, but nothing changes on AVG panel, the green protection circle is still on, won't change to red.
This is a clean install. I even used avg remover before this installation just to be sure.
Just want to add my experience here wrt this 0xc00000e5 error:
I've been a user of AVG antivirus free ed. for years. My system is win10 64bit currently. I use comodo free fire wall, and ad-aware scaner in addition to avg.
At the beginning of 2016, I remember I suddenly see lots 0e5 errors when trying to open programs(explorer, firefox, chrome, and pretty much any program). After some digging I pinpointed the cause to be AVG. So I had to delete it and used win 10 built in defender. Today, I decided to give avg a try, to my dismay this problem is still not fixed. Now with avg real time protection on, I can't open any program. I only get error 0e5 for each program I try to open. Please take a look into this problem again and let me know what I can do to help solving it!
I HATE having to join a support conversation in support of the problem.
I've been running AVG-free on a Win.10, yesterday I was notified that an update was available and I installed it. I postponed the re-boot for several hour, when it did reboot each of the programs that Istart when Windows opens opens sent me the same message [[The application unable to start correctly (0xc00000e5). Click OK to close application.]. It turns out MANY of the programs I use, and have been for years, trigger the same answer.
I've added a couple to the Exception List which seems to work.
I downloaded and ran the AVG_Remover.exe removal tool but I don't think it ran. I tried adding it to the AVG Exceptions list and got [An error occurred while saving the configuration: HRESULT:0xc00000e5] -- looks like the execption list work-around diesn't work any more :-(
I am going to chase the string you gave Tom Kim on July 12 then I'll be back to report in.
Guy Bernard

I also ran into this behavior with AVG Free on Windows 10. After a frustrating hour of my life that I won't get back, I was able to figure out that AVG was the problem, uninstall it, and install Avast in its place. Maybe I'll give AVG another try at some point in the future – and maybe I won't.
Hallo,
recently I updated AVG Free to 2016.7357. Now, some third party programs are crashing on start with error code 0xc00000e5 like it is shown below.
I do not get this error with KeyPass 2.31 only, but with StuxRip x64, SubTitleEdit, and some other Apps und it only happens when AVG Protection is running, All this programmes worked before without issues.
As workarround, disabling AVG Protection is working. Adding this apps to the avg scanning exceptions seems to work as well. But of course, both are not desirable solutions.
Hopefully this will be fixed soon.
Best Regards
John, we have escalated your concern to our senior level we will get back to you with a resolution. Your patience is much appreciated.
2016.7441 and the issuse is still present. I'm very impressed… really…
@Pieter-Jan Kuyten: I'm sorry, but I can't confirm this. I still get the error at different apps.
@ youboring boring
Win 10… Presume that you have the Windows Defender, which is an AntiVirus prog…, de-activated since it can conflict with AVG?.

Hi Balasubramanian - HA! - I just got 1/2-hour more :-)
In walking thru the directions you gave Tom, the Remove-AVG program does not run {run it as me I get the 0xc00000e5-error message, running as Admin it asks if its OK to run and then nothing happens (it is not an active program)
There is a Tech.Utilities pgm (http://www.wiki-errors.com/wiki-errors.php?wiki=0xc00000e5) that I tried, downloaded it, tried to tun it I get the same performance as above for the AVG-Remover.
I"m flat stumped. I don't know how I can remove AVG, I fear it will mean going back to my last System Backup--which I really don't want to do. Any thoughts????
Thanks
Guy
