Hi Duncan,
There is also more clean workaround with creating link in C to D, so if you try acces C:\ProgramData it exist even do data are saved in D:\ProgramData.
Thanks
Could not install AVG Anti-Virus and AVG chat help with remote could not either escalated problem. Prior fixes include a regedit fix to make sure ProgramData and AppData are found (I'm not technical!). These are the registry entries that work for most.
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders]
"Common AppData"="C:\ProgramData"
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\explorer\Shell Folders]
"Common AppData"="C:\ProgramData"
I made one last attempt and found either a solution or a workaround. I have a two drive system with OS on C: drive and all User Data on D: and my ProgramData and AppData are on D so I just replaced "C" with "D". Viola - good install.
My dilemma is whether to change the "D" back to "C" to avoid any other conflicts. I am doing that and will see if AVG Anti-virus works. In the midst of a Win7 Clean install and all programs reinstall. No problems with other programs finding their way - Maybe this is the info for a fix for AVG. If so perhaps I could "try out" the other AVG products for FREE.
