I have just discovered in my Control Panel a pioece of software called "Absolute Reminder" which was installed on May 11, 2012. I certainly have not installed it, and on trying to uninstall I encounter a long delay followed by a warning that some doftware by an "unknown publisher" is trying to get access to my computer.
Has anyone heard of this software, published by Absolute Software … and is it malware?
Hello Martin,
Absolute Reminder is part of Absolute Software's Absolute Computrace Agent and Absolute Track products. It is typically pre-installed on various OEM systems such as Dell, Acer, Lenovo and Samsung who distribute this program in the PC's BIOS. Absolute Reminder notifies users to register the product they have and it provides notifications about updates regarding its device and is noway harmful to your PC.
Thank you.
Thanks for the prompt reply, Kishore … and for the reassurance. I'm still puzzled by the warning message I got when I tried to uninstall.
