I have got AVG 2015 onto the computer (via another computer and using my 3 computer licence) and that has detected and removed JS/Phish. I still cannot access avg.com.au, which throws up:
Internal Server Error - ReadThe server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request. Reference #3.888ffe3c.1431036421.309ac378
The other symptom, which is that the hard disk claims to be 90% "full", is still there. I am reluctant to reformat the drive, as I don't have the original XP disk. Is there any way I can retrieve the space? Needless to say I can't identify the mystery files taking up the space.
Cheers
Malcolm
Malcolm, thank you for the information. I would request you to use a different web browser to access AVG website. And please have a look at this recommendations http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/free-up-disk-space by Microsoft to free up disk space.
I have an earlier version of AVG on my wife's computer. It has started to run badly, and it appears that it thinks its hard drive is virtually full, despite there being only a fraction of the space accounted for by files and programs. I tried to download a new version of AVG Antivirus, but found that access to all AVG websites was denied.
Curiously, I have come across an idential problem years ago with McAfee. I have to pay them to get that fixed.
Any suggestions?
