ACT application being blocked by AVG Internet Security

Hi all,

Firstly, let me express how shocked and disappointed I am that when trying to use the AVG support section - live chat, I am met with an "Sorry chat is not available" message and nothing more. No opening times, no explanation, no contact email address, no support ticket system, nothing. Appalling.

I am looking for support, as AVG Internet Security is blocking an application on my PC. That application being ACT (Advanced Combat Tracker) which is a DPS parser for MMO's. Now I am 100% positive that AVG is the problem, as when I disable the AVG Firewall or disable AVG Internet Security Entirely, It works just fine! Obviously I don't want to be having to keep it turned off though.

I have gone through the settings, and wherever possible I have added ACT as an "Allowed App" and given it access to "All connections" under "Application Rules". I have also tried doing the same with the game in question I am trying to parse from, but nothing works. As I said, it works fine when AVG is disabled, so I know where the problem lies, just not how to get AVG to stop interfering with it.

Any advice or support would be much appreciated!

Thanks

Dale

Hello Sreenu,

The AVG application isn't in need of any repair, as it is working fine, it just seems to be a bit over-zealous when it comes to blocking this particular application.

However, I have followed your advice on the off chance that something was going on behind the scenes, and after a reboot can cofirm that the problem still persists.

Any further advice?
