Hello Anita,
Hack Alerts continuously monitors the dark web and warns you if your login credentials have been leaked online. This will be activated only on the AVG Internet Security installed on Windows PC. This feature can not be synced to android devices.
AVG Internet Security will monitor for leaks involving any online accounts that are linked with the email address you provided.
Hi, I have an AVG Internet Security subscription for multiple devices which I use on my Windows PC and 3 Android devices (1 tablet/2 smartphones). To install the AVG protection on the Android devices I emailed the link from my Windows PC and then upgraded to the AVG AntiVirus Pro for Android by entering my activation code.
Now I receive a message to 'activate hacker alerts' in order to receive warnings in case a password is leaked online. The next step states 'all accounts linked to your mail address will be checked and you will be informed of any leaks'. (I receive the message in Dutch so my English translation may differ somewhat.)
However, the mail adress I use for my AVG subscription I only use on my PC (not on any of the Android devices). My question: does entering the mail address linked to my AVG subscription activate the hacker alert system automatically on all Android devices regardless of their Google accounts because they run under the same activation code, giving me warnings if a password has been leaked on the Android device in question? Or would it only alert the Android devices that there is a hacker alert on my PC?
Thanks in advance
Hello Veeramani, Thanks for your reply. I am not sure I understand entirely so trying to make sure. From what I understand:
* On my Windows PC With AVG Internet Security all accounts that use the same mail address to login as the one linked to my AVG account are monitored and will alert me in case somehow my login is compromised.
* This protecton does not extend to any online accounts that are linked to other mail addresses. So if I use my husbands mail address on the same PC his online actions are not protected? I hope I misunderstood this, because I have Internet Security including Hack Alerts for the entire use of my PC, not only for the ones involving that one mail address that was used to subscribe to AVG. That would mean I would have to buy protection for every individual mail address I use; I hope not since then what would be the point of having a subscription for 10 devices? I had to enter different mail addresses for these extensions anyway.
* I also understand from your reply the protection does not extend to the online accounts opened on the Android devices which do not have AVG Internet Security but AVG AntiVirus Pro (although linked to the same contract). If I understood that correctly then why are they asking for sign up with both the possibility of using a Google account (which I do not use for my AVG subscripton but do use on the device) or with the possibility of using my AVG mail address which is linked to AVG Internet Security on my PC.
Sorry, just trying to understand everything correctly and find out what exactly is covered by Hack Alerts.
Hello Veeramani, thank you for your reply.
Thanks for the explanation; I was already using Hack Alerts on my Windows PC but I was under the impression that this feature covered all internet/mail activity on the PC, not just the activities linked to that specific mail address. I do have more than one mail address both with email clients and Web-based email clients and I also manage my husbands online activities as he is not able to operate a computer and therefore doesn't have a seperate PC or AVG account. Am I correct that AVG Breachguard can be used to extend the number of mail addresses covered by Hack Alerts on the Windows PC?
From your last remark I understand AVG Internet Security does cover the entire PC activities, not just the ones specifically related in any way to aforementioned mailaddress.
But if Hack Alerts is not covered under the subscription linked to my AVG Internet Security Account, then why did my Android devices keep asking to activate hacker alerts? And when I initially entered my Google Account address it did state that all accounts linked to that address would be monitored. So now I am in doubt: are they or are they not?
