I am having the exact same issue, but this was after uninstalling AVG Tune Up. It will not let me open up my pdf, word, or excel files. Gives me the message - Windows cannot find "FILE" make sure you typed the name correctly. Please help. How did you resolve the issue?

I am having exactly the same issue just now! I did redo all rescus center elements and it still occurs. Can you please let me know what is the final resolution?
I have the same issue of lost pdf files/pdf files that will not open. I agree with Jonathan Lima and had thought about doing the same steps and will definately uninstall AVG Tuneup.

Hello Matt,
We would like to understand more about the situation. Have you put Microsoft office programs into sleep mode?
If so, please wake up the program to work on it. Else, share the screenshot of that error message you received to check and assist you further.

Finally was able to install and run Tune-Up this morning. After it was completed, I am getting an error message that Windows cannot find any of my Microsoft Office files or PDF files. These are files that are saved on my computer and before I did the Tune-Up I could just double click on them to open, Now I get an error message (Windows Cannot Find C:\Users\Matt\Documents\Email Follow-Up\Opt-in.docx. Make Sure you typed the name correctly and then try again). I went into Tune-Up and did the Rescue Center and that didn't help. Any ideas?
Please accept our apologies. We will help you to resolve the issue.
We recommend you to install the AVG PC TuneUp again and restore the files from the Rescue center.

I did and was resolved. Does that mind that I can't clean up any more since the same thing could happen again?
Solution that worked for me:
1) First disable ALL AVG TuneUP auto repair functions, including program suspension functions.
2) Then, open the start menu and search for "create restore point", open it, and click "System Restore …".
3) Look for Restore Points in Windows, and then restore to a point before the problem occurs. Windows will restore the registry and then restart.
4) Finally, to prevent the error from returning, uninstall AVG TuneUp.
Note:
Microsoft Office is likely to continue to experience errors. Follow the instructions below to repair Office.

I had put everything into Sleep mode, but went in and remove all of the programs from sleep mode. I believe it is an issue with the Mircrosoft Office programs (Word, Excel, etc) as well as the Adobe Acrobat Reader. When I double click on a any office file or PDF I get a similar message as below. The file could be on the desktop or in a folder and the same error message coems up. When I try and click on Word or Excel to launch the program nothing happens. PLEASE HELP!
