After renewal of AVG pro subscription Firewall error

After renewing my AVG Internet Security for 2017 the dashboard shows the error "Firewall cannot start due to corrupted configuration".  I have tried clicking on RESET TO DEFAULT but it does not complete.  It just returns to the error message.
