Allowing remote desktop - Windows 8

Hi, 
I need to use a remote desktop connection, but I cannot make it work when AVG is installed. 
I tried disabling the firewall using AVG and the remote desktop didn't work. 
I then uninstalled AVG from my computer and the remote connection worked fine. 

Please can you help me work out how to allow remote desktop in AVG? 

I am on Windows 8.1, using AVG 2015 (paid)

Thanks for your help - the "file and printer sharing" fix has resolved the issue
I was using the windows remote desktop connection program.

Hi Amy, before contacting AVG Technical Team you can follow the steps as mentioned at http://avgread.me/1Rk5XVA. Select Home or Work Network in AVG Firewall and enable "file and printer sharing". Let us know how it goes. Thanks.
