Yes AVG gives you some phishing protection, but according to this reviewer both Chrome and Firefox have better antiphishing: http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0%2c2817%2c2472129%2c00.asp

Carmel, Have a look @ FAQ 3498 (http://www.avg.com/ww-en/faq.num-3498) which has actually been in place since AVG IS 2011.
